Day 1: ARRIVAL CHENNAI

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by one of our representatives and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy some free time to relax or take a walk in the surrounding area, immersing yourself in the colorful local bazaars of Chennai. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: CHENNAI – MAMALLAPURAM – PONDICHERRY (165km – 4hrs)

This morning, depart for Mamallapuram (Mahabalipuram) to admire its UNESCO-listed masterpieces: monolithic temples, seaside sculptures, and local artisan workshops where skilled sculptors continue ancient traditions.

After lunch, continue to the charming town of Pondicherry. Discover the spiritual atmosphere of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, then explore the former French Quarter on a unique rickshaw ride through its colonial streets. 

Overnight in Pondicherry.

Day 3: PONDICHERRY – SWAMIMALAI (150km – 3.5hrs)

Begin your day with an authentic visit to a local fishing village before heading to the fascinating Chidambaram Temple, renowned for its impressive gopurams (ornate gateway towers).

After lunch, continue to Swamimalai. Enjoy a tasting of local specialties and gain insight into the region’s rich traditional craftsmanship. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 4: SWAMIMALAI – TANJORE – SWAMIMALAI (70km – 1.5hrs)

After breakfast, travel to Tanjore (Thanjavur) to marvel at the spectacular Brihadeeswarar Temple, a UNESCO-listed masterpiece of Chola architecture. Continue with a visit to the Royal Gallery, famous for its exceptional collection of sacred bronze sculptures.

After lunch in Tanjore, return to Swamimalai for a relaxing afternoon. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 5: SWAMIMALAI – KARAIKUDY – MADURAI (235km – 4.5hrs)

This morning, discover the magnificent palaces of the Chettinad region and the unique craftsmanship of the artisans of Athangudi. After a traditional lunch, continue to Madurai.

In the evening, immerse yourself in local life as you explore the vibrant flower market before taking an electric rickshaw to the Meenakshi Temple. Here, witness the unforgettable Aarti ceremony, one of the most captivating spiritual experiences in India.

Day 6: MADURAI – PERIYAR (140km – 4hrs)

Depart for the beautiful Periyar Wildlife Reserve. Enjoy an authentic experience with a home-hosted lunch and an introduction to the culinary traditions of Kerala.

In the afternoon, embark on a peaceful boat cruise across the lake, surrounded by unspoiled natural beauty. Later, stroll through the historic spice market and enjoy a tasting of local products. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 7: PERIYAR – BACKWATERS (ALLEPPEY) (130km – 3.5hrs)

This morning, travel through scenic tea and spice plantations on your way to Kumarakom. Here, board a traditional houseboat for an exclusive cruise on Lake Vembanad. A delicious lunch featuring local flavors will be served on board as you glide through the famous Backwaters, often referred to as the "Green Venice of India." Along the way, admire coconut groves, rice paddies, and the legendary St. Mary's Church, dating back to the 5th century.  Dinner served on board.

Overnight in the houseboat.

Day 8: ALLEPPEY – COCHIN (70km – 2hrs)

After disembarkation, continue to Cochin, the legendary trading port of the Indies. Discover its historic treasures, including the Dutch Palace with its remarkable murals, the Paradesi Synagogue with its Chinese tiles, and St. Francis Church.

After lunch, enjoy free time to wander among the colonial buildings of Fort Cochin while sampling the region's famous banana chips. In the evening, experience the enchantment of a traditional Kathakali dance performance, a unique theatrical art form known for its elaborate costumes and expressive storytelling. 

Overnight in Cochin.

Day 9: COCHIN DEPARTURE

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the Cochin Airport for your return flight.

Comfortable and light clothing is the most suitable for travelling in India. Visitors should not wear sleeveless shirts, shorts, short skirts or skimpy clothing when visiting temples, religious or official buildings. Shoes should be removed before entering a temple or private house. Sun protection, sunglasses, a hat and mosquito repellent can be very useful during your stay.
